About Me.

Hello!
My name is José, and I’m a graphic artist specializing in storytelling—specifically, a comic book illustrator. Initially, I graduated as a lawyer, but my love for art made it impossible to set aside. Throughout my life, I’ve collected art books and comics, and whenever I had the chance, I participated in art events with my paintings.

I always knew I wanted to be an artist, but circumstances didn’t allow me to attend a formal art academy. Over time, I discovered the Joe Kubert School, which specializes in comics and offered a correspondence program. That became my gateway into the art of storytelling.

Later, as online courses became available, I continued honing my skills in all the disciplines that make up comic art.

Living in a place without a comic industry, I realized I would have to handle every aspect myself, much like European comic creators. So, I immersed myself in learning: penciling, inking, writing, lettering, coloring, and much more. I knew I had to be self-sufficient in this journey.

During my time at school, I was contacted by a good friend of mine, someone I grew up with and shared a love for heavy metal music and art. His name is Douglas Quiñonez, and he’s now an archaeologist specializing in Mayan glyphs and a scientific illustrator. He is an oficial member of Oppin Skjold, a group of archaeologists conducting experimental studies at an archaeological site in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. This site, known as Haithabu, was once a major Viking trading port and now houses a museum filled with incredible archaeological finds.

Douglas asked me to create a series of illustrations about Viking life, marking my first serious client. Over three years, I produced around 90 illustrations, which eventually led to the creation of a comic called Vikings: Saga of the North. This comic is available for purchase on this site, along with the original illustrations.

In 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Douglas in Germany and participate in a Viking village reenactment at Haithabu. Today, this archaeological site includes reconstructed portions of the original Viking settlement, allowing visitors to experience what life was like during that era.

During my visit, I met key members of the Viking association and was thrilled to see my project well-received. This success led to two new comic commissions. One focuses on Haithabu (for which my script has already been approved), and the other will center on Danewerk, with a script written by Douglas and illustrated by me.

In addition to these projects, I dedicate my free time to creating artwork featuring my own characters, gradually building my own universe.

Currently, I’ve also written and illustrated a comic titled Shattered Land, which explores the struggles migrants face in today’s world. This comic, along with its original artwork, is available for purchase here.

I always have new projects in mind and spend my time creating, studying, and experimenting with colors, shapes, and styles. I enjoy both abstract and realistic art and believe that artists have the freedom to create in ways that inspire them while striving to present meaningful work to the public.

Lastly, I’m pursuing two certifications at an animation academy: one in character design and another in 2D animation.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my journey and my work!

I am currently learning all aspects of human anatomy, including various proportional sizes and how to apply facial distortions effectively to give individuality to each character. Additionally, I am studying costume design and special features to make each design unique and engaging.

In terms of animation, I am focusing on the fundamentals of movement, learning how to draw in perspective, create proper motions, and bring my characters to life with fluid and realistic movements.

Both courses are self-paced, allowing me to progress at my own rhythm without any deadlines. Upon completing the courses, I will receive a certification from the CreatureArtTeacher staff, signed and verifying that I have successfully completed both programs.

Since I was a child, I have been a great enthusiast of drawing, comics, and cartoons. I remember always reading comics, which were an important part of my life.

I started drawing at a very young age and quickly filled up sketchbooks. I always dreamed of studying art, but for various reasons and circumstances, my education followed a more traditional path, like many people, with very little artistic training in schools.

However, my love for art never disappeared. I always found ways to create a drawing or painting, and during that time, I made a few paintings and participated in some art exhibitions.

Although life took me down a different path, there was always a piece of paper on my desk where I left a sketch.

Over time, I had the opportunity to take correspondence courses in comic art, which later became online courses through the Joe Kubert School.

Additionally, while working in an office with flexible hours, I rented an office near my workplace and turned it into my drawing space. There, I began working on my own projects, although they didn’t receive a very positive response at the begining.

However, one day someone asked me to create biblical illustrations for the book of Paul, which gave me the opportunity to work on my first large commissioned project. In the end, I created about 50 illustrations.

Shortly after, I was asked to create illustrations of vikings, which allowed me to further develop my style. In parallel, I continued my art studies, and from there came two comics: Vikings: Saga of the North and a graphic novel called Shattered Land. Five years ago, the comic studio I had always dreamed of as a young person became a reality.

The viking project has driven me to increase my production. I’ve created illustrations with acrilyc gouache using animation principles and have experimented with graffiti on paper.

This February 2025, I’m starting to work on two new comics about vikings. My work has been well-received, and after several years of offering my drawings, I’ve gained recognition that motivates me to keep going.

Due to the large number of works I’ve created, I decided to open my online store and further formalize my art studio. Currently, I have a variety of original art and some digital comics ready for sale. My original illustrations are located in two places: some are in Germany, and others are in Guatemala. I have many plans for the future of this journey I’ve chosen to take.

Today, I work in two ways: you can find traditional art created with pencil and paper, as well as digital art, which I find very interesting due to its wide range of artistic possibilities. I enjoy both forms of creation.

In the future, I have many projects in mind. I’ve saved over 30 years of drawings that are waiting to be redrawn, perhaps on a larger scale, on watercolor paper and colored. I also have ideas for new comics that I want to create traditionally with ink and paper.

This online store was born with two goals. The first is to showcase my art and make my dream of publishing and having an audience a reality, opening up opportunities to work as a freelancer or collaborate with those interested in my creations.

The second goal is to sell my original artworks, which I’ve collected over the years, at an affordable price, as well as offer the digital comics I’ve created.

Inkedman Comics is a project full of creativity. I have always considered myself a highly creative person, and I enjoy experimenting with drawing styles and materials.

My goal is to contribute something to the world of storytelling, narrating stories, creating characters, and building fantastic worlds. Inkedman Comics is born out of the need to create a space for art in a world where it is increasingly undervalued. A space to create art. That’s where Inkedman Comics was born.
